Eley Kishimoto collaborated with Singaporean publishers, Work, on their latest edition on Werk magazine. The project uses archetypal Eley Kishimoto prints, a visual documentation of photographs, sketches, and musings, combining these with the perfect-imperfect finishings that have become a signature of Werk.
Each issue is unique with its use of actual archive Eley Kishimoto prints; a bundle of 4 fabrics, on both the front and back of the book have been carefully constructed to create the cover. The fabrics from the back are folded over the spine and secured to the front using staples and dress making pins, mimicking a 'textile work-in progress'.
Werk No. 17 traces the history of Eley Kishimoto starting with childhood photographs of Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto, moving onto an extensive collection of archival prints, and then looking to the future with an introduction to the new A/W 10 PATTERN LAB collection.
The layout is simply but meticulously directed; one's perception of actual fabrics is paralleled in the way the prints are presented and the whole issue provides a comprehensive insight into the workings and heart of Eley Kishimoto.
If you would like a signed copy of the magazine, please note this at checkout. It is not possible to shrink-wrap signed copies. Each magazine has a unique fabric cover, these will be selected at random to fulfill your order.
